Hi Guys and Gals, im hoping this is simple to answer because i can not think what is causing my problem.
I have recently upgraded my mother board and processor to an Asrock P4b88+ and have installed 2 500gb Sata drives. I dont want raid so i have set the bios to non raid which is ok.
I have 512mb of memory installed (which i plan to upgrade as soon as money allows) and have set a partition for the page file system. I have installed win xp sp2 on sata 1 as the boot system
The problems im having however are..
firstly when the machine gets turned on from cold, it does not detect the opperating system and gives me a non system disk error, i reboot and it works fine.
Second problem is that the data transfer rate is Slow. I moved 4gb from one to the other yesterday and it took 40 plus mins.
Am i missing something, is there something i should of installed?
I havent installed any Sata drivers because most of them relate to raid which i do not want to use.
Any help would be appreciated.

you've written:

there are different types of raid you can read about in this article:
when you are using sata drive, the most common mode os raid 0.

Thanks Santei
However as i said i dont want to use raid so i have turned ot off completly via the bios, however the drives are really slow so i will try to install sata drivers and see what happens.

Thanks for the feedback though.

may be you don't understand me, you are using raid cobtroller therefore it's implied that you will be using some type of raid. and may bebecause you disable any raid you speed of coping so poor.

Ok once i have installed the sata drivers if this does not work i will look at turning the raid back on and see what happenes. Thanks
