I have a sata hard drive and an IDE CD Rom. The question is, do I plug the IDE CD Rom into IDE port 0 and set it for master, or slave. Or should I plug it into IDE port 1 and set it for master or slave. Does it even make a difference since Im using a SATA hard drive.

Since it is the only IDE device, for general noise reduction jumper the CD ROM for Cable Select or Master and place it at the end of the cable, on either Primary or Secondary IDE controller.

It won't make a bit of difference with it being the only IDE device. It wouldn't even really make a difference if you had a secondary drive that acted as your data drive.

As long as you set your primary bootable device to the Sata drive you will be fine.

The real world is not about exam scores, it's about ability.
