SATA, do all computer manufactures/Hard drive/manufactures use a stan

With the SATA bus technology, do all computer manufactures/Hard drive/manufactures use a standard(One size/dimension and one transfer rate? basically will one computers SATA data cable/power plug work work with any SATA HD or mother board.

NOPE!
There are now two standards;
SATA 150 (original)
SATA 300 (or SATA2) with twice the bandwidth.

Also the drive itself could either have a old type molex OR SATA power connector (or both)

The fastening on the SATA cable ends also differs.
There is however some backward compatibility.
