SATA Controller slowdown on different speeds

Does anyone know if I have an onboard SATA controller, with a non-raid configuration, if I have a WD Raptor drive, and then i add a slower drive, will the slow drive impact the performance of the raptor?

As long as the drives are individual, each should be accessed at their rate or rate supported by the controller which ever is lower.
