Hello,

I have a ML350 with a E200i controller that which seems to me to have 8 ports for SAS drives and i have a SATA backup device that i want to plug into it but I cant for the life of me find a SATA port on the controller or anywhere else for that matter. Does anyone have an idea, maybe i need to have a SATA cable with a SAS backplane? If so are there any power issues that i need to consider?

Any insight would be appreciated.

Don't install a tape drive on a raid card, not sure if the E200i is one.

SAS and SATA use the same connectors so using a standard sata cable should be fine. If you have no sata ports left, but an add in sata card.

According to the technical specs, the HP Smart Array E200 controller sypports SAS and SATA drives and supports disks only as well (don't know about the E200i). There is only a SAS connector on the card so maybe you would need a SAS to SATA cable?

But I do agree with Paul, even if you did have the correct cable I would not mix disks and tape drives - this goes for all Smart Array cards.
