Hi,
Can anyone help me.
We have been hit with the sasser worm virus and need to deploy a fix out to a couple of hundred dial up users.
the catch is that the files will not install without Admin rights. is there anyway to get this down to them without chaanging users admin rights.

We maanaged to get it to in-house users by creating a computer policy that did not require any admin rights (as it extracts before any user intervention)
Any help would be much appreciated.

Regards

Thanks for that.
but the problem is still there. the user needs to be logged in for remote access (hence user privelages) user privelages will not allow changes to registry keys. thats why i set it as a computer policy for normal users as opposed to more simple way of a login script.
but the computer policy kicks in as part of a startup script when on network.
I think i'm going to have to creat a AD group and assaign relevent permissions to it and place dial up users in this group. that is the only way i can think of.

how about "publishing the fix" under the computer part of "Software" (ig a Group Policy)

then users can install it via "add/remove" applet -> "Add new program" and install it with "elevated privileges"

"Work to live, don't live to work"

"The problem with troubleshooting is that sometimes it shoots back"
