sas disks in p6 570 not visible in SMS

HI,

We have just got 2 570 and after following AU73 I am trying the first steps on these boxes. I have worked with AIX a few years back (aix 4.3.2 I believe was the latest on our SP-Cluster)

I am trying to configure and boot a VIOS, I have assigned a Network card to use for the NIM boot process (ping works in SMS) and I have assigned the SAS controller as required in the assumption that I would be able to see the sas disks in the SMS menu 5

Unfortunately no luck.

I see my 2 ether net cards on the P1-C10-T1 and T2 and I see my CDROM and TAPE drive as I also assigned the scsi controller as desired. But no sas disks.

and no disks mean no install of the software

any hints would be appreciated.
