SAS disk boot problem

I'm having trouble to install NW 6.5 on a Dell PE1950 server.
The PE1950 has 4 SAS disks and a PERC5/i Raid ctrl.
There is no problem to boot the server from the NW OS CD and run the installation.
But when the server reboots after installation it will not boot from the DOS partition.
I get this message:
loading Bootstrap...
Cannot load DOS press key to retry

Any ideas on how to resolve this problem ?

Sounds like the boot partition is horked. go to

http://www.bootdisk.com,

download a DOS 6.22 Boot disk, boot to it and then run FDISK. See if there is a FAT16 partition and make sure it is set as Active.

Problem solved.
The problem was the RAID config. that DELL did at the factory.
After a total manual reconfig. of the RAID it works.

Keep in mind not to load EMM386 when booting MS-DOS.

You should never have any DOS mode drivers (EMM386 or others) in the config.sys or autoexec.bat. That's a common mistake for newbies.
