Thanks for the response.
We're working with SIGMA, an OLAP tool that works with SAS, not the Warehouse Administrator.
We checked out the SAS ETL tool but have two major problems with it : a) the cost, b) it assumes that there is a centrally-administered datawarehouse. As we understand, the tool is not designed to handle our separate datamarts that are individually and independently administered.
We realize there is a problem using the same ETL tool for both Oracle and SAS datamarts, and are aware that we may have to compromise on a partial solution for SAS. Nevertheless, we're still hoping to find a way to integrate one ETL tool into both types of systems.
Is it feasible (and is there a point?) to use the tool to extract source data to flat files or even to Oracle before loading to SAS, or alternately, to load the prepared SAS files to Oracle so that we can work toward central metadata and eventually a central datawarehouse? To further complicate the question, I'd like to add that our SAS datamarts are quite large and already functioning on home-made ETL.
Any advice?? [sig][/sig]
