sar, vmstat, prstat, mpstat, top

How come on Solaris 8 that the sar command indicates that the %wio is very high (90%) and so does the mpstat as well:

while in prstat it indicates that the percentages are distributed on user and kernel?? hasing too little %wio

Are you asking just out of interest, or because of the health of your system and looking for a specific cause of zero CPU? Which prstat option are you viewing?

I've seen this too. It's a bug in earlier Solaris 8 revs that's lumping the idle % in with the wio %. You don't really have that much wait for io. It's just a reporting bug.

Check your kernel rev level and get it patched up to the latest. That should give you more accurate %wio and %idle.
