for sar -d i get a device:

st4 92 0.9 24 12322 0.1 38.4

the "24" is "r+w/s"
the "12322" is "blks/s"

What is blks/s?

How many KB/MB per sec is this device reading/writing? By my calculations, 24*512bytes=12288bytes/sec or around 12KB/sec. Correct?

What does the 12322 for blks/s refer to then? that column throws me off..

in other words help me interpret the output plz :)

Hi gwichman,

the blks/s column is the amount of transferred 512 byte blocks per second, so in your case it would be

12322 * 512 bytes/sec

The 24 stands for the average read/write operations per second.

Hope that helps
