Hello,

My company began an SAP implementation about a month ago on the AS/400 platform. I am trying to get up to date on our Service Packs, but receive the error " The value specified for the argument is not correct" when I use the SAPCAR command. Only 1 of the 45 CAR files which I downloaded will extract correctly. The only difference with that one is it downloaded with the extension .CAR in upper-case, while all the rest were lower case. I tried re-naming and re-downloading with no success. If anyone has info or can tell me where to get the old CAR command (I have searched everywhere!) I would greatly appreciate it. I am also looking for the "SAPConsole Users Guide" with no success. Thanks!

Hiya,

*.CAR files are normally unpacked with CAR.exe, the SAPCAR.exe handles *.SAR files.

Try using "car -xvf *.car", this should work.

Kind regards
Vlad

Hi...
I need to transport SAP Objects (programs, tables, texts, functions, configuration settings, forms, etc.) to an outside SAP customer. SAP delivers objects as CAR files and I would like to do the same. Is there any documentation or white paper on this subject? Thanks y'all in advance.

hi,

maybe a little late, but CAR is able to unpack only one file at a time ... so you'd better write a short script for unpacking many files with CAR ->

CAR -xvf filename1
CAR -xvf filename2
.
.
.
CAR -xvf filenamex

ciao
