hi there..
This is more of a networking question than novell question but maybe someone can help..

I have a private IP (wan)network that uses motorola vanguard 320 routers at each site, including our main office.. Problem is, the win9x machine can't see the novell server, MOST OF TIME.. meaning they can see it every now and then.. the NT machines can see it just fine.. so, I've configured the nwhost and host file on the 9x machine's, set static addresses, pulled some hair.. and all the basic crap.. What's really wierd is the 9x machines are getting an address from our win2k DHCP server!!?! Yes, I have the proper host record in DNS on the 2kserver for resolution to the Novell server..

What I'm thinking: The 9x machine's broadcasts for service are not reaching the Novell server or vise versa.. the routers are configured with static addresses to the bootp server (the 2kserver) but i'm sill at a loss here.. the router's do have options for broadcast addresses and what not but thier not configured..
Any Ideas???

If you can, migrate your NW server to all IP and configure SLP with a DA, and then set the NW clients to point to the DA. That way the client has a unicast target to query for services (no more SAP(IPX) or multicast(IP) etc.
