SAP iDoc - extracting data from multiple segments

All,

I'm involved in a project at the moment where we need to take information from SAP/R3 and convert to CSV files for import into another application.

The client is providing SAP iDocs for Shipment information. What I need is, at the most basic level, the shipment number and the delivery Materials and quantities in a single file with the format:

"Shipment", "Order Number", "Material", "Qty"

I have a programmer trying to get me this information but he is having difficulty getting the information from the higher level segments to output into the CSV file.

Suggestions??
