Hi,

Environment:

Client:AIX 5.3+NW 7.22 client+NMSAP 3.0.2
Server: Solaris9+NW7.2.2

I have strange problem when backing up two SAP instances on same node. Backups are not inititiated on same time and command line backup with brarchive works fine. Same instance always fails with following error:

BR0613I Database instance XYZ is shut down

BR0280I BRARCHIVE time stamp: 2007-03-15 12.45.13
BR0546E 'Shutting down instance' message not found in Oracle alert log /oracle/XYZ/saptrace/background/alert_XYZ.log for the last startup - cannot check if database instance XYZ was cleanly shut down

BR0016I 0 offline redo log files processed, total size 0.000 MB

BR0007I End of offline redo log processing: aduuzcpd.sve 2007-03-15 12.45.13
BR0280I BRARCHIVE time stamp: 2007-03-15 12.45.13
BR0005I BRARCHIVE terminated with errors

Needles to say, instance is not down but running normally

I have similar setup on Solaris platform and it works fine.

Anybody have info about this.

Looks like some environment variable is wrong. Take care that you clearly separate config files for both instances.
I suppose you call some script (often called inline script). It might help if you added a line that printed the environment to some temp file. Then compare environment of successful and failing backups.

btw, is one of the systems a standby database?

hope this helps
