SAP ABAP extractor

Hi all,

We have Data stage 5.1 with SAP extractor pack which is utilised to connect to SAP R/3 system. On using the SAP ABAP extractor stage(ABAP_EXT_for_R3) , we need to use the 'extraction object' icon to connect to the SAP server. This would help us in getting the SAP table information and logs us in with our SAP GUI id. But on entering the neccessary SAP host name, system number,
language, SAP user ID, SAP password, and so on, using the icon we get error which tells us that 'SAP Logon failed'. But we use the id to login successfully into the SAP GUI client .

Has anybody prior experience with this problem. I would be grateful for help asap.

Hi,

We found the issue with this problem was with port not being opened on the server that talks to the SAP box. Simple issue but 'errors provided didn't lead to the solution'.
