Santricity & STK D173 Storage Array

Hi I've got an STK D173 Storgage Array with 6 discs.1 has failed & needs changing.I'm assuming I need Santricity to connect to the array & remove the disc with the software before physically removing it.

Does santricity have to be Host attached or can it be installed on a laptop.I'm then assuming that the connection is made by ethernet from the laptop by a cross over cable.

Any help with Santricity or the D173 array would be helpfull
