i have a hp san that was recently installed. its a fibre channel san. its attached to 3 servers, 2 are running 2000 server and 1 is running 2003. one the 2000 servers and the 2003 one are working fine. all the firmware and drivers are up to date. the server that is not working is displaying the following symptoms:

1 . drive is showing up in my computer and computer mgt
2. when i try and access it , it says it needs to be formatted
3. when i try and format it, if i use fat, it goes to 99% and then crashes out saying volume is too big (cos san disks are 200 Gb and of course fat cant support that)
4. when i us ntfs, it just says straight away that the format failed or could not be completed

any ideas???

HI

I gather then it lets you partition the drive without any problems, as you don't do a format until the partition are setup. If so what sort of partition is it ? Primary or Extended ?
Can you look at the SAN using the ACU (array Configuration Utiltiy) and does it look OK - compare it to the good server that you have.

Good luck

Dave
