Hi,

Do any of you guys know how / if it is possible to boot from a SAN or Fibre attached tape device? This would be for case of DR on a JS20 blade, when restoring a mksysb, which needs to be on tape.

We have a Tape changer with two internal drives, and the system can see it after it is booted, but does not detect it at the SMS menu's.

Any help would really be appreciated.

Hi

Check on IBM Page, or with the Support if your Drive ist supported to boot AIX.
If supported check the Microcode Level of the Adapter and Drive.
Can you directly write to tape with mksysb ?
Most of Tapelibraries need a Management Software like tsm to manage the drives.
