I have a customer who has an os7200 and everything is working perfectly but they are getting ghost calls answering as 8401 to 8408 when answered with no one there. They say it will be bad for several days or weeks and then nothing for several months. they only have 7 pots lines feeding into the system with no PRI or other phone line inputs. How can I make this stop. Thank you.

As 840X trunk numbers are the default for H323 trunks, it sounds as though something is trying to connect to the system, possible hacking attempt?

They do deal with international customers but they just want this to stop. I'm not an expert at avaya systems but I'm learning as best I can. NEC is what I deal with most. I saw something in program 5.1.1 could changing something there help. They don't have anything but 7 analog lines feeding into the system and at most vm to email on the lan connection. Disconnecting the lan was my other possibel solution. just not sure what that would disallow. thank you for your assistance.

It depends on what type of handsets they have. If digital or analogue, then the system doesn't need to be on the network except for Admin purposes. If they are IP phones though, the LAN connection is essential.

they are all digital phones with a couple of analog phones in the warehouse area. there are no ip phones.

Try blocking the ports on the router to the phone system, have there got all ports forwarded to the phone system?

sorry there is one IP phone on the system. So just unplugging the lan isn't an option. what ports should I have them block.
