Samsung Monitor misbehaving

Hello all,

I have a Samsung IM15MM TFT flatscreen monitor that last week randomly has decided to "darken" itself. This is not the contrast or brightness just being adjusted, this has happened in a period of two hours when I was out and now I can still see the desktop and monitor menu however it is very dark, as if the contrast had been adjusted (it is not this though as I have tried adjusting it and the monitor menu should appear as normal anyway)

Has anyone else has this problem or any suggestions as to what it could be?

You may want to check your video card settings. Alot of the time video cards will try to default to what it thinks is the best setting. Go in and try to go to the display adapters advanced settings and see if you can brighten it there. You may also check the Display drive and see if you cant download the latest samsung Monitor drive....that may help also.

If you have all your settings turned to 100% (contrast and brightness) and the display is still dark then brightness can be mechanically altered internally.
This is not for the novice and can be dangerous if extreme caution is not taken (sorry for the rather extreme warning) but there are residual high voltages left in the monitor) even days after it has been turned off for several days.
Anyway once the back has been removed there are several adjustable pots that can be adjusted for contrast/brightness/focus and in some cases even adjustment for the 3 primary colours.
