Samsung ML-1450 2nd Tray

I have a Samsung ML-1450 with optional 2nd tray connected to a machine with Windows XP Pro. The 2nd tray option is checked in the printer properties in the printer folder. You can go to that folder and ask it to print from the 2nd tray just fine. But none of my applications (including MS Word and WordPerfect) show the 2nd tray in the paper source list. The tray is essentially useless if I can't access it directly from an application. Any ideas? Thanks.

It doesn't work to set the 2nd tray as default and then apply it and it'll print that way with everything?

That probably would work, but I want to keep envelopes in the 2nd tray all of the time (the 1st tray doesn't accept envelopes); therefore most of my printing will be done from the 1st tray.
