How do you program selector codes for the main AA greeting and will this box pass caller id to the stations when a caller transfers from the AA to a group like 500?

I assume you are using a voicemail rather than an AA card, in which case it will be the entries in the day main menu (on the second page), and yes it will pass on the CLI as long as it receives it.

I'm an Avaya guy so please excuse my ignorance but I'm guessing I should be programing the mail through the serial port on the front and a laptop. You can't set up AA selector codes through a phone?

That's right. It's a totally separate course, and the programming is through hyperterminal (38,400 baud 8,N,1). You can do some stuff by logging on via the administration mailbox e.g. re-record system prompts, but you can't change any destinations.
