Does anyone know how I can get this drive formatted and working properly.

The motherboard has 2 SATA 1.5g controllers a Via 8237 and a promise FastTrak 376/378. The VIA will not even recognise the drive when connected at all and the promise shows up in the boot process as identified but is not in 'my computer' and I cannot use the drive.

I have looked at the Samsung website which gave several pieces of software as apparently this drive will not always revert to 1.5g SATA, but whichever controller the drive is connected to the programs do not detect the drive.

With the drive connected to the Promise controller, does Disk Management see the drive?

Start, Run..., diskmgmt.msc

Identified it and now formatting.

Been looking for info on this for few days and nothing I can find, not very good with SATA drives assumed was something more serious wrong having read about on the internet lots of people with same problem with drive and lots of failures and bad sectors. Just hope I don't have the same problems when its done.
