Hi all,

This user has her Lotus Notes (6.5.1) location set to Network Dialup, and told me not to change it. Every now & then her contact list disappears & she has to rebuild it from scratch. Does this have anything to do with her location prefs? Is there a way to restore her old contact list from a local file? The way it's set up, she uses her local files for most everything.

If she is on dialup, she DOES use local files for everything. And if the contact list disappears, more likely than not its because she deletes them, or there is a rogue script operating somewhere.
I doubt there is a script doing this, but it is conceivable. Check everything you can to this effect - her mail file, her local dbs.
If there is no script to be found, query the user until she defines exactly when the disappearing act happens. Many users are quite confused about computers, so try and impress on her the fact that she needs to write down whatever happened the next time she discovers that her contact list has gone missing.
Whatever happens, make a backup of her local NAB and keep it safe. The next time she comes complaining, just plug it back in. Try to get her definition of how it happened this time, just to see if you can extract anything of use, and send her on her way.

Pascal.
