I have a request for a rpt that has a particular field that has fund abreviations. The rpt needs to have this field placed horizontally across the top of the report. There are over 100 funds but not all rpts which are ran by plan will have all 100 funds. There are to many funds to add the same table 100 times. Is there any way to have the fund field on the same report and show each fund separately for each plan.

I don't know what you want your output data to look like.. but would a crosstab work? If you give us a little better idea about what your data looks like in the db.. and how you want it to look on the report it would help.

PLAN: ACME COMPANY

LName FName SSN Fund1 Fund2 Fund3 Fund4 Fund5 Fund6

Jones Tom 111223333 AFFI BARO CEQI CTRI STAV VBAL
0% 10% 50% 0% 25% 15%

Smith John 444556666 AFFI BARO CEQI CTRI STAV VBAL
10% 0% 50% 50% 0% 0%

the Acme company has these funds and each participant can have any combination up to 100%.

The next company may have ten different funds. We have over 100 different funds. No plan will have more than sixteen funds but can all be different. When I build the report now all of the funds are listed vertically under the Fund for each participant. Need them to go across. I tried a crosstab but because I had to add a summarized field it did not look right. Probally me, not much practice with crosstabs. I hope this helps.

Crosstabs are pretty weak for formatting, but the alternative is writing a whole lot of code, or building summary data within a View or SP, so I suggest you go with the Crosstab and suffer the inadequacies.
