in our deployment, I use timed service.
You can elect 1 or more machine as server, and the others
client. (the server may be your NIS master server, probably
the file server too).
Enter smitty timed
(or smitty/Comunic./TCP./Furt./Server./Other./timed Subs.)
Only in the machine(s) you elect as server go in
"Change/show..." and flag "yes" the "Include this host..."
In All machines (server & client ) go in
"Start Using the timed.." / BOTH .
Considerations.
1) For easy environments, this is enough.
2) If you elect more than 1 server, the global time will
be the mean time of the servers.
3) If your network is mixed AIX, other Unix, be carefull
that there are not other machine out of your control, that
can be timed server.
4) Timed use broadcast to retreive information ( in the
client you say nothing about server)
