OK then very strange this so let me explain... we have a domain which is owned by out parent company (@company.com). They deliver our incoming mail but we deliver our outgoing to ISP. OK then - have imported all the @company.com as contacts but when selecting these via the GAL the mail never leaves the server it just tells me no recipient. WHY??. In the contacts details the email address reads correct and the error report shows correct mail address.

No one on earth seems to be able suggest anything at all so please can someone help me with this one.

Your server thinks it is authoritative for @company.com. Therefore, if it can't find the address itself, it doesn't exists.

Stupman thats exactly what I think but how do I tell Exchange that I am not authoritive for the email domain name only - we have our own seperate domain which is not a child domain of company.com. But one problem is we have to keep @company.com so local addresses in the GAL need to be delivered locally.
