I have 3 machines on a LAN: a Win98, a XP, & a RedHat Linux 8.0. I want the Win98 & Linux boxes to be networked [in a peer-to-peer configuration] for file & printer sharing, but to have neither available to the XP machine. Here is what I have done so far:
1. Installed a network card on Linux box. Am able to browse the web & check e-mail.
1. Started 'client services for M$ networks' on the Win98 box. Setup a network ID, along with a password.
2. Installed Samba & started the daemons via '/etc/rc.d/init.d/smb start'.
What do I do next? The Win98 machine has no idea anything is connected to it, & neither does the Linux box. I think I have to update a config file on the Linux box, but don't know how/which one to edit. And RedHat's site only has howto's for experienced admins, which I am not. If I can't do this in a peer-to-peer fashion then I would prefer to have the Win98 box as the server. Also, please keep in mind that I'm a total linux newbie. Thanks in advance for your help.
