Samba server doesn't show up in network neighborhood.

I can browse from W2K or W98 (only in DOS mode)
From Linux, also.

If I do in W2K or W98
net use P: \\SambaServer\MyDir

I'll have P: on MyComputer, as a net disk

But never on network neighborhood.

Hi Tutia,

You need to make sure that the nmbd portion of samba is running. To tell this, do from your samba server run a pidof nmbd. If it's not running then that's your problem. If this is it, restart nmbd.

Also check your smb.conf file to ensure that you have the workgroup = YOURWORKGROUP
set properly.

If nmbd is running, and the smb.conf is set correctly, you problem have some problem with the Master Browser on your network.
