I have set up a Samba share on Suse Linux 10 Enterprise Server as follows:

[jakarta]
comment = Jakarta Tomcat
path = /jakarta
public = yes
browseable = yes
guest ok = yes
printable = no

When a map a drive in Windows XP I get a prompt for username & password. The same samba share on Suse Linux 9.1 does not cause a prompt to appear.

How can I relax this security in version 10? Has there been a change between version?

set samba user's password on linux with the command

Code:
smbpasswd -a username

On windoz you will be asked for a password only if the samba share password is different from windoz's login password.

You can anyway tell windoz to store the password and not ask for it again.

If I could have sex each time I reboot my server, I would definitely prefer Windoz over Linux!
