Hello

I have a new problem with Samba!
I have enabled my unix password sync, but it doesn´t work!
I use a Suse Linux 7.1!
Here is the important part of my smb.conf
encrypt passwords = yes
unix password sync = True
passwd program = /usr/bin/passwd %u
passwd chat = *old*password* %o\n *new*password* %n\n *re*new*password* %n\n
passwd chat debug = True (only during configuration)

I think its the syntax of passwd chat!?
A other question is about PAM! Do you know a good tutorial about PAM?

Thank you very much

Markus

Hi,

That looks about right.. couple of minor differences to try

passwd chat = *old password* %o\n *new password* %n\n *new password* %n\n *changed*

%o = old password
%n = new password
\n = carriage return

PAM stands for Pluggable Authentication Modules. The framework allows for the development of modules to provide authentication, authorization and resource control services. Basically the various modules provide add-on security to provide a much more granular level of control. See --> and for more info.

Thank you for your help, but it doesn´t works by me!
The error message is:
machine 127.0.0.1 rejected the password change:Error was: the specified password is inalid.

I don´t know what the problem can be!

I believe I must learn PAM!

Thanks

Markus
