Has anyone successfully tied a samba server (running on AIX) into Msft Active Directory? I've done some reading and I believe I need to install kerberos and an ldap client. However, I'm uncertain about the procedure and AIX filesets needed. Can I use the AIX kerberos filesets on the expansion pack? Does AIX have the appropriate ldap filesets on media?

This will be on an AIX 5.3 partition. We have currently have a running active directory environment. I have samba running (and working) on the AIX server, however the samba "server" isn't tied into AD.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Active directory is nothing but a mixture of DNS+LDAP+Kerbros

I was discussing this with a friend of mine today morning and he said that it is possible to make something like active directory with an AIX server with Samba installed. I know for sure that this could be done if an AIX server can be joined an active directory as a member server but to be honest i don't know the steps involved!

I'll look into it and come back to you.

Regards,
Khalid

Thank you. I really appreciate it.

I do have samba, openldap, and kerb5 installed, it's the configuring piece I'm not sure sure about.
