I have been attempting to use Samba on an RS6000 running AIX 4.3.3. I can get Samba working but have difficulty when I try to share the folders with user level security. The clients are currently logging into a domain. If I leave the share open to allow guests it works but when I try to tighten the security it will give the clients the opportunity to enter a username and password but will not accept the username and password entered. If anyone has experienced this before please help.

why doesn't you use Domain level security?? So you can authentify user with your PDC. User must be define localy but password is verify with your PDC.
I can help you to configure your samba for this....

I have encountered the same dificulty that tchaser describes. I would like to know how to set up the PDC to secure Samba access.

LeDam - could you write up something that could help both me and tchaser get started? I bet there are others out there that would also like to know.

Thanks, Einstein47

I have tried using domain level security as well and that did not work.

Thank you LeDam. This article saved the day. Everything is now working as it should.
