I recently inherited support of a set of Samba servers: RH 2.4.7 and 2.2.14 running Samba 2.2.1a and 2.0.6 concurrently. Beginning only two weeks ago, W2K AD accounts mapping the shares presented by the Samba servers began randomly locking out. Some are interactive, some are not. There does not seem to be any rhyme or reason for these lock outs. Some of the service accounts running automated jobs have special characters as the first character in the username. They seem to lock out more than regular user accounts.
I have researched this for weeks now and have not found a solution that will solve our issue. I do not understand why all of a sudden both servers no longer provide stable connectivity to these shares. What am I missing?
