I'am new to Linux and networking, I have installed the Samba Server and the deamons are running as expected. But I can't see the Samba Server from the client. I can ping the Samba Server from a XP client using the servers IP address and I can ping the client from the Samba Server again using the IP address, but when I try to ping either using a host name I get a host not found error. Do I have to set up DNS if so How is this done for an internal network as all the documentation I have seen only describes DNS from the perspective of hosting domains names on our servers, when our domain is hosted by a ISP. Is thier another method Host files, WINS?
