I have a samba installation on a hpux 10.20 machine.
I worked fine for 3 years till suddenly samba server
was not accessible.

Apparently without any reason.

This is my smb.conf

server string = SMB serv. Mfgpro A346001.
comment = Mfgpro Machine.
workgroup = SICAR_NT1
wins server = 10.156.128.20
load printers = true
username map = /opt/samba/lib/users.map
interfaces = lan0
bind interfaces only = yes
encrypt passwords = yes
guest ok = true
hide dot files = true
username map = /opt/samba/lib/users.map
printer driver file = /opt/samba/lib/printers.def
printcap name = /etc/printcap
allow hosts = 10.156.128.
dfree command = /usr/bin/bdf
log file = /var/opt/samba/smblog
security = server
password server = A346004

Thanks in advance.

Hi there,

try telling WIndows machines to not participate to the master browser election.

To do so access your network properties, click FIle and printer sharing and set Master Browser to disabled.

On NT Machines yu should look for the LM announce setting.

then add the following to your smb.conf

local master = yes
OS level = 64

I hope this will help

Bye
