Hi,
I've finally gotten Samba installed and configured on my SOHO network. Red Hat 7.2 is running as a file server for a couple of Win2k and XP machines.
I am still having problems with file naming and "extra" files. When I copy one file from the Windows hard drive to the Samba share, two files appear in the Samab share.
For example, if I copy "playlist20010410.htm" these two files appear in the Samba share:
playlist20010410.htm
PLAYL~7-.HTM
The second file is always small: 1k in size. It's not a terrible thing, but it clutters up directory listings and file listings within applications.
So far I've been using WebMin to adminster Samba. Does anyone know how to prevent Samba from creating these files?
Thanks in advance!
Henry
