When trying to access a Samba share on my Sun Solaris box from a windows2000 computer I get the following error.
"The account is not authorised to login from this station"
The relevant section of my smb.conf looks like this
[new_dir]
path = /apps/mydir/test/abc/new_dir
guest account = username
read only = No
guest ok = Yes
host allow = <ip of pc>
Does the error message relate to a Unix / Samba or Windows issue
Thanks in advance

I need to see the real smb.conf to help you, unless for security reasons you cannot show it Too bad I.T. is not cash business

Here's the rest of the smb.conf (well the most relevant part(modified))
# Global parameters
workgroup = MYWORKGROUP
netbios name = SERVERNAME
local master = No
time service = yes

have you created users on the unix box that correspond to the users on the win2k box?
have you smbpasswd'd those users on the unix box?
have you added an account for the win2k machine on the unix box?
have you got encrypted passwords set to yes in the samba configuration?
...

Here is an example of the global section so you can validate your user account with your PDC OR AD controller :
Global
workgroup = your_NT_domain_name
netbios name = name_of_samba_server
security = DOMAIN
encrypt passwords = Yes
update encrypted = Yes
password server = Your_NT_domain_server_name
passwd program = /usr/bin/passwd %u
passwd chat = *ew*password:* %n\n *e- enter*new*password:* %n\n
