I have samba running, I can see the samba server on all of my windows systems but I can not access it. I would like to but it in the same workgroup as all of my other workstations. But I can find anywhere to change that in Linux red hat 7.2. I would also like to change the name some how it ended with Dhcppc7.

Thank you

Hi,

Everythig in Samba hinges on the smb.conf file found in either /etc/ or in /etc/samba (some distros put it in different places. Search around if you need to find it.

There is a line in there for
WORKGROUP =
NETBIOS name =
etc. This is where you put in the name of the workgroup or domain name for the server.

As far as getting access to the Samba server, did you add the user names to the smbpasswd file? J.R. Juiliano
