Hi,

I am having a problem implementing some security settings while using samba.

I am using samba as a simple file server without much change in the smb.conf.

I have 4 groups:

management

secretaries

accountants

designers

and about 20 users, each assigned a unique group.

I am required to put the following restrictions in the following folders.

company

documentation

management (accessible only to management)

Clients (accessible RW to management and secretaries but read only to designers and accountants)

debtors (accessible RW to management, secretaries and accountants. Denied to accountants)

designs (accessible RW to management and designers, R-only to secretaries and denied to accountants)

I've tried different combinations of samba and linux file security to no avail...

Anyone who can point me in the right direction... your help is most welcomed.

ThankX

You'll probably need to enable ACLs on the volume and use those to grant permissions to multiple groups.
