samba 3.0.20b swat probs and permissions cant be set

Hi all,

we recently upgraded to 3.0.20b we originally had 3.0.2 (i think) and we had swat working and we could set permissions on shares through "computer management" on a windows machine, now neither work, in computer managment it just says access denied even if it is done with administrator, and with swat it wont even let root log in, i have done smbpasswd -a root and set the password on it but it still wont let me log in.

any ideas?
