We are currently running Samba 2.2.8a on AIX ver. 4.3.3 in a Windows NT 4.0 domain. We are planning to upgrade the domain to Windows 2000, but are unsure if we can run Active Directory in native mode with Samba. We have not implemented any security in Samba, it is basically used to transfer files between Windows and AIX. We have the Samba security setting set to 'share'. My main question is: can we run Samba 2.2.8a as a member server in a domain running Windows 2000 Active Directory in native mode? If not, would a more current version of Samba support this? If not, is running in mixed-mode our only option?
Thanks for your help.

You can run your Win2K DC in native mode.
Win2K in native mode will support Netbios and NTLMv1 for legacy clients.
Your Samba 2.2 server can be a member server just as a NT4 server can.

Upgrading your Samba to V3 may also be a good option.
And AIX bundle is available at
