Guru's;

I have a *nix on a local subnet running Samba 2.2.1 and I need to print to shared printers through a VPN on another subnet.
I have a remote announce in my smb.conf but my smbclient complains that it "can't find the broadcast address" for the other subnet which appears in the hosts allowed section.

I also read somewhere that a PDC is required on the other subnet which only has win98se workstations. If that is the case then does anyone know of ANY device other than an NT that can be placed on the other subnet or added to a win98se box that would make it work?

Hopefully someone reading this has solved this issue before so please share your comments, suggestions and recommendations.

Thank you.

Well I solved my own problem (Sort of) by following the rules most clearly documented in the "Linux Samba Server Admin" by Roderick W. Smith. While I am able to print to printer shares on the remote subnet through a VPN now my testing still shows the message "Can't determine ip for broadcast address 172.16.3.0" which I cannot seem to solve.

So, again, if anyone can make a suggestion to resolve this please do so. In the meantime its more manuals and more Internet research.

Bob
