Samba 2.0.7 and upgrade to AD

We now have Samba 2.0.7 on an AIX server that is attached to a Windows NT 4.0 domain. We need to upgrade the domain to Active Directory. I want to add a BDC, promote it to a PDC and upgrade to Windows 2000 with Active Directory while leaving the NT 4.0 BDCs alone. Will Samba have problems. The Domain will be in mixed mode.
 
Is the Samba server a PDC on the NT domain, or is it just a member server in the domain? If its just a member server, you shouldn't have any problems, and you could always re-join the domain if you had to...

smbpasswd -r netbios_name_of_domain -j _netbios_name_of_PDC

If you want Samba to be a domain controller in an Active Directory domain, I could be wrong, but I don't think its possible yet. It looks like you will be able to do it when Samba 3.0 is released...
