Samb authentication

I have a sambafax installation where my users connect to create pdf files.

This system works great for most users.
The process is a user prints something to a samba hosted printer, the print job is convereted to a pdf file on the samba box, and the user opens a mapped drive to a file share on the same samba box to get the file.

This works fine for all users except two. When one of these users browses to the samba box and clicks to open it there is a long pause while the samba box attempts to authenticate the user's credientials.

This samba box passes authentication through to a Windows NT4 domain controller.

For these two users, this authentication fails while it works for everyone else. Once it fails the user is presented with a network name and dialog box. At this point if I use that users name and password, authentication again fails and the same dialog pops up again. At this point if I use my credentials (or someone elses) if works fine.

If doesn't matter what workstation is used.

For some reason this samba box can not authenticate two specific users through the NT4 DC. However the NT4 DC does fine authenticating the two troublesome accounts for others resources not on the samba box.

Do these users have local accounts on Unix with the correct username mapping (If you are using that)
What does the samba log say when the connection fails?

"If you always do what you've always done, you will always be where you've always been."
