I'm currently running two HP9000's which are running HP-UX.
The systems are used to run our Oracle systems.

To manage printers etc we use HP-UX'x SAM (System Administration Manager).

The scenario is, we rely heavily on printing and subsequently if the printer server goes down it causes a nightmare and we loose money. Our printer manager is a Windows 2000 machine with 25 printers installed. What I would like to know is, if I setup a second box with the same printers installed can I then configure SAM to recognize both printer servers and in the event of one going down can SAM then redirect all print jobs to the second server or does it have to be done manually, or is SAM the wrong tool if so is there another tool to allow me to achieve this.

Many thanks

I have a print server(hpux) with 12 printer configure on it.
All my print job from unix goes through there. I uses a script to add / remove /edit printer configuration.

in sort all other unix boxes sees this printer as remote printer.
On print server I uses jetdirect software.

You can configure two printer one points to win-2000 and one point to hpux or another win-2000 server. So if one it down everone can send job to another name. But you can't have one printer point to two location.
