Has anyone got info on the MD Inventory Tool in Sam? Have tried to configure without much success. Had partial success by importing data from a text file (SYECP / CNBIP etc) but not been able to set-up to dial into switch and enable auto generation of commands to obtain relevant data etc. It would appear to be a good tool if I could get it to work!

Inventory tool is just one tool inside SAM.
"auto generation of commands .." is done via PCREGEN in SAM.
And to dial into a switch first you must setup in CDA (customer database administration) the customer data for that particular node .

Then I am sure Inventory tool and all the rest will work.

I have had similar trouble with Inventory tool...regardless of how I set up a site it fails. I tried I lot of different methods but nada. I don't think my version likes BC 9. In the node setup it asks for a username and password which is a sure sign that something has been over looked. In other posts here it has been said not to even try using it unless you have SAM version 3.6 SP3 or later as early versions are flawed.

The FAQ misses some of the details of the setup which I need. For example when BC9 is selected why does it still ask for a user name? Should you leave the user name blank? (If I do this it says it's connected but it still fails) The FAQ also is missing the commands PCLOP and SYEVP in the instructions for offline refreshing using a command prints. (this is explained in another post) Anyway, our system will be upgraded to BC11 very soon so I guess I'll try again after that.

Ironically I have made some progress and now it gives me the error "Cannot retrieve Hardware information" after it has connected and executed the commands. I expect it has something to do with the database uss97.mdb does anyone have any idea what I can do to over come this?
