I am trying to get together numbers on what the current "average" commission is for IT based sales staff.

depends a lot on the product type e.g. hardware, software (and if in house dev or outsourced), services (once-off, short-contract, long-contract, maintenance type contract), with/without maintenance (if software or hardware).

And loads of other aspect.s

Also depends on the country which you forgot to specify.

Thanks for the reply, Frederico.

Country is USA.

Generally, I am looking for inside retail sales, mainly hardware, ie. computers, computer parts, servers, printers, etc to home, business and government entities.

I have heard a figure of 20-30% of gross profit, is that accurate?
