Salary Negotiation

I believe I am about to be offered a job that I interviewed for with 4 different people on 3 different days starting 15 days ago.

How do handle salary negotiation? Say I am making (purely fictional numbers) $50,000 with non-contributory company profit sharing, 2 weeks vacation, 4 additional discretionary days off, sick time that accrues very fast (like I could ever use all that time), 401k, health & dental insurance, and a bonus paid twice per year. Presently I have to carry the on-call which consists of one month intervals (though it very rarely goes off) and 37.5 hours is full-time.

What if they offer $45,000 and offer no bonus, and 2 weeks vacation with no discretionary days? The manager I would be working for seems very easy going and would be flexible with time (unlike my current manager). I know they offer health/dental (nationally known company) and would have a 401k. But I don't think they have the non-contributory profit-sharing either, which is free money for my retirement.

Any advice? And since it is late Friday, how do I word it to say I would like to get back to her (HR) on Monday?

Thank you very much!

Just be honest. Say that you'd like the weekend to think it over, and that you'll get back to them on Monday morning.

The key to negotiating is finding some middle ground. If they refuse to negotiate at all, I would keep looking. That's a sign to me that when review time comes around, they'll expect you to take what was offered.

what happened?
And- why would you consider 10% less money than you are making already?

It was an unfounded concern. I was offered 5% more than I currently make and an annual bonus that is 3% more than current.

The reason is that I am very unhappy where I presently am, but would have wanted to seriously think about taking a pay cut of that much even though I am unhappy here. But as I said, it was a concern that was unnecessary.
